History-Social Studies Textbook Adoption Informational Community Meetings

You are invited to our informational community meetings focused on the upcoming adoption of History-Social Studies textbooks. The new textbooks will align with the History/Social Science Framework, updated in 2016. To address this, we are embarking on a comprehensive curriculum adoption process.


We have partnered with the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) to offer a professional development series to engage our dedicated staff and educators in the adoption process. 


The December informational meeting will review the History/Social Science Framework changes, an overview of the process for textbook selection, process timeline, and an opportunity for questions. The piloted materials are anticipated to be publicly available in Spring 2024. 


Meetings will be conducted in person and live-streamed through Zoom. The meeting recordings will be accessible on the website following the meetings. Spanish translation is available upon request; please email Educational Services at educationalservices@hbcsd.us to submit the request.
