Eader Elementary School Report

Principal Mr. Forest Holbrook shared Eader Elementary’s school report with the Board of Trustees, highlighting this year’s focus on building a strong sense of connectedness among students and staff. Through vibrant programs centered around the arts—including music, dance, and visual arts—as well as joyful community events like Snow Day and all-school assemblies, Eader is fostering a culture of belonging and school pride.

These efforts are reflected in positive results from the California Healthy Kids Survey and notable improvement in chronic absenteeism, signaling stronger student engagement and well-being across campus.

To close the presentation, students Marea and Ainsley gave a lively demonstration on the cajón drums, inviting Board members and District leadership to join in a few rhythmic beats—capping off the report with the kind of joyful, student-led connection that defines the Eader experience.
Facility Naming Committee Recommendation – Sowers STEM Building

Following a formal request to name the Sowers STEM Building in honor of Bill and Rebbie Bates, the District convened a Facility Naming Committee as outlined in Board Policy 7310. The committee, comprised of representatives from across the District, unanimously recommended approval of the naming proposal in recognition of the Bates family's longstanding support and contributions.

The Board of Trustees held a public hearing and approved the naming of the building, pending funding. The commemorative plaque installation will be contingent upon donations, and additional information will be shared in the coming weeks regarding how contributions may be made to support this effort.
2025-2026 Proposition 28 Arts Education Plans

In accordance with California’s Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act, the Board approved the District plans for the 2025–2026 school year, based on the 2024–2025 allocation. This voter-approved initiative provides dedicated, ongoing funding to support arts and music instruction at every school site.

Between February and April 2025, each school’s Site Council reviewed and approved a customized spending plan, reflecting both current-year funds and any prior-year carryover. Highlights of the plans include hiring certificated art teachers, bringing in short-term arts and dance instructors, and purchasing instructional materials to enhance arts and music programming across all campuses.
The proposed budgets comply with Proposition 28 guidelines and support meaningful student enrichment opportunities. Individual site plans are publicly available and posted on the District website.
Executive Director of Technology Services - Job Description and Posting

The Board of Trustees has approved the updated job description for the Executive Director of Technology Services, a leadership role that supports the District’s technology infrastructure and strategic planning. The previous description, last updated in 2015, has been revised to reflect current systems, priorities, and expectations for leading technology services across the District.

With the updated description in place, the recruitment for this position is now officially live. There is no fiscal impact associated with the update. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply via EdJoin: Executive Director of Technology Services Job Posting.
