Mental Health Awareness Month Parent Presentation
Posted 5/16/23

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month!

While we know that mental health awareness should be a year-round and daily commitment, the purpose of this month is to highlight mental health disorders and illnesses in effort to reduce the stigma of them, spark important conversations about how to support yourself and others, and to show those who struggle with their mental health that they are not alone.

Please join OCDE Regional Mental Health Coordinator, Amelia Azzam, LCSW PPSC, as she shares information on Student Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Awareness.  Parent participants will learn about student mental wellness; symptoms of common childhood mental health conditions; ways to help their student develop coping strategies and resilience; myths and facts about suicide; warning signs and ways to support their student experiencing thoughts of suicide; and available resources.
