Board Resolution S-28-21/22

The Board of Trustees voted 3-1 to approve a resolution requesting Governor Gavin Newsom reconsider the COVID-19 Vaccine directive for public and private K-12 students as a requirement for in-person instruction. The final version of the resolution will be sent to State officials.

According to the Governor's announcement, the vaccine directive is likely to go into effect on July 1, 2022. Because the vaccine requirement is a directive of the Governor and not the legislature, medical, religious, and personal belief exemptions will apply. The Board is not considering a district-initiated vaccine mandate for students and has no intention of doing so.  Parents who want to advocate their position on any potential mandate should contact state officials.  Contact information is available on the District's website, and below:

California Department of Public Health (CDPH) | Office of the Governor | California Representatives

The District's commitment and focus are to keep schools open full-time, every day, for in-person learning. School districts are not the governing bodies that have the authority to change health directives but are however required to follow them.
